Animated Sparky vs. Wildcat!

Football season is here, so what better way to celebrate than by animating these two members of Team M.A.S.C.O.T. -- ASU's Sparky and UA's Wildcat!

Animated Arizonauts Profile: June Monsoon!

When June joined her father for "Daddy/Daughter Day" at the Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station, she never expected her life would be forever changed -- but it was, when lightning struck a reactor, transforming June into a living monsoon! Orphaned and aimless, June's new abilities inspired Sheriff Joe Arpaio to start a program for recruits with extraordinary abilities.  Thus, the Arizonauts" were born: a covert posse of super-officers enforcing laws beyond the capacity of normal deputies!

June's powers include: generating lightning bolts, rain, and harsh winds.  She also has untapped super-strength -- because her hair was changed into a monsoon cloud, and clouds are actually very heavy!  If June wasn't using all of that super-strength to keep her head up, who knows how powerful she would be!

Amazing Arizona Comics #4 Animated Cover!

People ask me all the time, "How does Dust Devil fly?"  Well, as a heroic, demonic imp with dominion over the Earth, DD can create a small, dense cloud of swirling dust to keep him afloat.  Duh!

Amazing Arizona Comics #4, starring Dust Devil and Lou Ferrigno, is available here for $2.  The animated cover is available right here for free!

Animated Arizonauts Profile: Speed Cameron!

Before he became a living speed camera, Speed Cameron was just Cameron Wheeler, a reckless youth that, one dark, stormy night, was struck by lightning and the flash of a speed trap at the same time.  He wasn't the first to join Sheriff Joe Arpaio's Arizonauts program, but his eagerness to defend the law quickly made him its leaders and spokesman.

When the Arizonauts went public, Speed Cameron led the charge to expose Sheriff Apraio's controversial methods, but revelations about his origin have given him a new outlook on life as a superhero.

Amazing Arizona Comics #8 Animated Cover!

Happy Labor Day!  This week, I'm rolling out some new animated gifs.

Last night, as I was learning more about making these fun little animations, I looked up and saw the "R.J. Cartoons" sticker I had made as a kid with my old label maker.  It's still clinging to the shelves over my desk, after all these years.  Now that I'm animating my own characters, however crudely, I feel like a childhood dream has come true.  I'm making cartoons!

Oh, if you didn't know, in Amazing Arizona Comics #8, June Monsoon teams up with the Arizonauts of Parallel Earth-1070 to defeat a despotic Sheriff Joe Arpaio, a.k.a. Darkpaio.  This issue is available for $2, but I'm afraid its cover doesn't move in real life.

Monsoon Punch!

My first animated gif!  It's Speed Cameron vs. June Monsoon (Guess who's winning?) in Amazing Arizona Comics #9, coming soon!  (The gifs will only get better from here, folks . . .)
