National Poetry Month, Day #19: The Ties that Bind

The Ties that Bind
for Mr. Fudinchi

IV.

whatever (if even)
loose strings between us

you play them
acoustically

as lullaby

laying
our differences

to rest

III.

east coast
west coast
west
ward
ho

me, going to
you, going fro

newspaper blanket
wall of pillow
think about the future
playing hobo

II.

the milk under your bed

for who knows how long
solid
in sippy cup

perfect proof
everything ages

with age,
the spoils

I.

you probably don't remember
the clown make-up

you cried
until the washcloth
you were relieved

to see
it's only me

in my brother's eyes,
I saw

it's me
