Tucson Comic Con: The Keymaster

Concluding this month's look at the Tucson Comic Con is the Keymaster from Ghostbusters -- simple and effective cosplay that answers the question, "Do you have good memories from Tucson Comic Con?"

"Yes, have some!"

Tucson Comic Con: The Lone Ranger & Tonto Cosplay

Happy Thanksgiving!  What better way to celebrate than acknowledging one of the first Native American partnerships in pop culture -- the Lone Ranger and Tonto!

Ironically, these guys were not together at the Tucson Comic Con, but I was fortunate enough to catch them both swinging by my table, and it's a pleasure to partner them here in photo form.  "Mr. Reid" was bummed that he couldn't find any Lone Ranger memorabilia on the con floor, so I had the honor of sketching him a keepsake of the cowboy hero . . . one of the many reasons I was thankful for Tucson Comic Con this year.

Now, hi-yo, turkey dinner -- awaaaaay!

Tucson Comic Con: Mr. T Cosplay

You can't spell Tucson without T -- so here he is!  I love Mr. T (you may have heard or read my poetic ode to him), so I was thrilled to see him here (in cosplay form, anyway) in Arizona.  I pity the fool that doesn't go to Tucson Comic Con next year!

Tucson Comic Con: Hellboy Sketch

Remember that steampunk couple that met the Lone Ranger at Tucson Comic Con?  They had commissioned a Hellboy sketch from me, so here's what I cranked out in the few minutes they waited (and, like I mentioned, met the Lone Ranger).  If you swing by my table at any comic con, I'll happily pencil sketch your favorite superhero (or villain) for you for free, and inked commissions like this start at a measly $5!

Tucson Comic Con: A Balloon, Yoda Is.

I didn't get a chance to visit the guy making these crazy balloon sculptures at Tucson Comic Con, but plenty of attendees strolled by my table with amazing keepsakes like this one.  I borrowed this Yoda for a quick pic, but I saw an incredible Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles sculpture, as well.  I don't want to inflate this guy's ego, but whoever you are, Balloon Man, I hope to see you at every con from now on!

Tucson Comic Con: The Tucson Teen Titans

These young ladies visited the Amazing Arizona Comics table at the Tucson Comic Con earlier this month, and I drew Beast Boy to make their twosome a trio.  I also drew Raven for another fan, below.  If you swing by my table at any comic con, I'll happily sketch your favorite superhero for free!

Tucson Comic Con: Scarecrow Cosplay

Halloween may be over, but the Scarecrow makes the season of fear last all year long!  Here's Dr. Crane reading the first issue of Amazing Arizona Comics at the Tucson Comic Con.

One of my favorite parts of exhibiting at cons is meeting fellow fans passionate about the comics craft -- and this guy shared that his Batman: The Animated Series Scarecrow suit was his first cosplay experience.  Obviously, he nailed it!  He's a big Scarecrow fan, so he said he might dress up as different incarnations of the frightful foe at every con he attends.  If you're reading, Scarecrow, swing by my table at the Amazing Arizona Comic Con in January.  I'm afraid to see how good your next Scarecrow suit will be!

Tucson Comic Con: Lone Ranger vs. Doc Ock Cosplay!

I'll post a few pictures from Tucson Comic Con over the next few weeks, and I just had to start with my favorite.  Here's a precious moment captured from my table's POV: the foreground, a steampunk couple is meeting the Lone Ranger, which is innocent enough . . . but in the background, a naughty Dr. Octopus is standing a little too close to the ladies' restroom.  Just one of those moments you'd only see at a comic con.

Governor Brewer's 40 Days & Nights

Tucson Comic Con is only a month away!  Fortunately, the weather is cooling off just in time -- but not for the Governor Jan Brewer from Earth-1070, who, in this panel, is braving the high desert, banished by Emperor Darkpaio.

The countdown to Tucson will continue with periodic panels from the exclusive full color digital edition of Amazing Arizona Comics #9.  Special thanks to Kyle Kazmierczak for tackling the titanic task of tinting these tales.
