Sketchbook Sunday: Remember Herman Cain?

Welcome to another Sketchbook Sunday!  We continue, dusting off the 2012 Presidential Election . . .

Remember Herman Cain?  This time last year, Herman Cain was still making headlines as a viable voice in the Republican Party . . . with only the occasional mention of his role as CEO of Godfather's Pizza in the '80s and '90s.  To me, that was the most interesting part of his persona -- at one time, he was a part of the fast food war in America, as a Godfather, to boot.  What if the President of the United States was, at one time, the Godfather of a pizza chain?

"Im going to pass a bill you can't refuse . . ."

***Sketchbook Sunday Bonus!***

To celebrate my wife's first Roller Derby bout yesterday, here's a sketch I did while we were waiting for Greg Fitzsimmons to come on stage at Stand Up Live last year.  Beware that mobile meanie, Killer Queenie!

The Obama/Trump Feud Begins . . .

In October, when President Obama revealed that he and Donald Trump share a past, many dismissed the comment as a late night talk show quip.  As this strip reveals, the President may have been creating a lie closer to the truth than we think.

Coming later this month, the conclusion to the Obama/Trump/Speed Cameron conflict on Election Night . . . and a new beginning . . .

Getting Back Into the Swing...

I'll be posting here with more regularity for the rest of the year, primarily with conceptual sketches from Amazing Arizona Comics and beyond, but until then I should mention "The Swing Vote of Sheriff Ape-aio," the serial strip that ran on Nerdvana last month (following the ambitious Speed Cameron's California Adventure, of course).  That's right -- before Sheriff Arpaio was campaigning for his own seat, he was endorsing Mitt Romney at the RNC, where he was transformed into an ape!  Guest starring Invisible President Obama, Clint Eastwood, Ben Quayle, and some mysterious visitors from -- Parallel Earth 1070?!  Check out the collection here!

Here's the trailer to whet your appetite:

Countdown Day 32: FCBD Phoenix

We know Arizona might be in play this Presidential election, but could President Obama have his sights on the Grand Canyon State for . . . other reasons?  Find out in the Phoenix Free Comic Book Day Exclusive!

Countdown Day 28: Sketchbook -- Shocking Revelations!

My first strip on Nerdvana revealed what REALLY happened when Herman Cain visited the Valley promoting an electrified border fence, and although the villain's origin wasn't depicted in the strip, it WAS drawn -- revealed here for the first time!  The top is the page layout, and the bottom is the rough pencils (just to prove I put SOME thought into this stuff).

Countdown Day 19: Quayle Bait

Did you know the Quayles live in Arizona? I didn't, until Ben Quayle, the former Veep's son, ran for office, claiming he was "gonna knock the hell" out of Washington. Them's fighting words -- and what would you expect from someone running to represent America's leading superhero state?

Countdown Day 18: EXCLUSIVE -- "A Warm Corner"

This strip is appearing for the first time right here at KaraokeFanboy Press -- featuring one-time Presidential hopeful/Arizona Senator John McCain on the heels of his comments about Kim Jong Il's death . . . specifically, where Il might've ended up, and with whom.

From a recent issue of Pholx. One of my attempts at some "Red Meat" or "This Modern World" shtick. I'm a fan.

This strip may explain why Santorum recently dropped out of the race . . .

Countdown Day 14: Raising Cain

Today kicks off a series in our countdown to Free Comic Book Day dedicated to the Presidential candidates of 2012 -- because all of their campaigns have had strong ties to Arizona one way or the other.

Remember Herman Cain? Everybody's favorite former pizza magnate turned Presidential candidate visited Arizona often during his brief bid for office, one time commenting that he'd support an electrified border fence. Well, Sheriff Arpaio didn't realize Cain was kidding, and during the fence's construction, something went terribly wrong -- and a super-villain was born. Here, local heroine June Monsoon steps in before Cain receives the shock of his life!
