National Poetry Month, #24: Night on the Town

Night on the Town

the water falls
in blades,
like grass,
like glass

splash of cologne
on processed skin
sliced thin as bologna

smiles for miles
and miles
of furrowed brows,
burrowed frowns

the coffee,
the beer,
the night
all flow so dark

the ice,
the heart,
the dawn
break too soon
